BASIC TIPS FOR WRITING LISD Board Members
- Hand-written letters are best. Taking the time to hand write even a brief letter conveys
the issue is important to you and is taken more seriously than form letters. - Be polite. Let’s approach our commissioners with the mindset that they want to hear
from us. A respectful tone can open doors, while negativity can close them. Remember,
letter writing is voluntary. If you can’t find a positive way to express your thoughts, it’s
okay not to write. - Do not date your letter. Because of the scheduling of this issue, we may need to
mail your letter a week, possibly longer, after you write it. - Include your return address on both the letter and the envelope. This establishes you
are truly a resident of your school district and strengthens your credibility. Some board
members may choose to write back to you or call you. It is important that you make a
copy of the letter they send you and forward it to the support staff at this event. We need
this valuable feedback to determine what our next steps may be. - Return your letters to Steiner Ranch Elementary School at reception UNSEALED
by August 19th.

education suffer
3. Closing: Thank them for their consideration and ask for a response.
Make sure you sign the letter and give them your home address and phone number. This
conveys your commitment to the cause and allows the commissioners to write or call you back.
It also lets them know that you live in their county, increasing your chances of a timely response.

at Steiner Ranch Elementary for delivery.
